The goal of the grant scheme is to improve voters' knowledge about the election and to increase voter turnout.

Grant recipients can spend them on covering their expenses linked to information initiatives such as campaigns, websites, the production and distribution of information materials, and so on.

Information about the application process can be found in the Regulations relating to grants for information initiatives.

Priority target groups

Initiatives targeted at young voters, voters with immigrant backgrounds, and voters who need specially adapted information will be prioritised.

Who can apply for grants?

Organisations and other stakeholders registered in the Register of Legal Entities/Register of Non-Profit Organisations can apply for grants. The initiative applying for the grant must be neutral from a party-political perspective. Individuals, municipalities, county authorities, and political parties cannot apply for these grants.

Total grant budget NOK 5.5 million

The scheme can distribute NOK 5,537,000 in grants. The Norwegian Directorate of Elections stipulates a proviso that the Storting approves the appropriation before grants can be disbursed. Experience shows that applications for grants exceed the amount of funds available. Therefore, it is possible that approved applications with receive smaller grants than those they applied for.
